4396508 Whirlpool / KitchenAid Deluxe Refrigerator Ice & Water Filter

The Whirlpool / KitchenAid Refrigerator Ice & Water Filter 4396508 fits Whirlpool, KitchenAid, and Kenmore side-by-side refrigerators with a quarter-turn filter located in the grille at the bottom of the fridge.

The 4396508 Filter replaces these older filter part numbers:

The 4396508 Filter removes the following impurities from your drinking water:

• 99.35% of Lead at pH 6.5
• 99.31% of Lead at pH 8.5
• 96.22% of Mercury at pH 6.5
• 91.57% of Mercury at pH 8.5
• 96.40% of Benzene
• 99.77% of P-Dichlorobenzene
• 92.50% of Carbofuran
• 92.86% of Toxaphene
• 99.00% of Chlorine
• 95.10% of Particulates (Class II)

As with all built-in refrigerator water filters, the 4396508 does not remove Fluoride

The 4396508 cartridge is tested and certified by NSF International to meet or exceed NSF/ANSI Standards 42 & 53

The Refrigerator Ice & Water Filter #4396508 should be replaced every 6 months or when the "change filter" light comes on - whichever comes first.

Installing your new water filter:

1. Twist the old filter a quarter-turn counterclockwise
2. Pull the filter straight out (don't worry, the water will shut off automatically)
3. Remove the reusable color-keyed knob from the end
4. Discard the old filter
5. Slide the knob onto the end of the new filter
6. Push the new filter into the fridge until it stops
7. Twist the filter a quarter-turn clockwise
8. Reset your "change filter" light (if your fridge has one)

Resetting your "change filter" light:

• Press the light switch (the one that the refrigerator door presses every time you close the door) 5 times within 10 seconds.

OR

• If the fridge has a filter button, press and hold it for 5-10 seconds.

The label isn't quite straight, and almost looks like it was applied by hand. If those details don't bother you, it's hard to find a better bargain.	(more info) The Brita filter is really well made, with nice tight seams and crisp edges. The box and label include detailed installation instructions - which is nice since you only change the filter twice a year. The filter removes as many impurities as the best filters we sell, and Brita guarantees it will fit and make the water taste better. Great filter, great price, trusted brand... the Brita is hard to beat.	(more info) The 4396508 should fit perfectly since Whirlpool Engineers designed both the filter system and the filter cartridge - there's no guesswork here. A longer list of impurities would be nice, but that's what the 4396510 is for. Great way to save a few bucks and still get the Whirlpool name.	(more info) Like the 4396508, the 4396510 should be a perfect fit for your fridge. The filter removes more impurities than the 4396508 - including Asbestos, Cysts, and some herbicides. A great, no-compromise, genuine Whirlpool filter.
