The Maytag UKF8001 Puriclean II premium quality water filter is independently tested by the NSF and certified for the reduction of Chlorine Taste & Odor, Lead, Mercury, Cysts, Asbestos, Chlorobenzene, Turbidity and any Particles larger than 0.5 microns in size. A human hair is roughly 75 microns in diameter so the UKF8001 filter removes particles 150 times smaller than an average strand of hair (that's really small!). Using this filter will provide you with cleaner, safer and better tasting ice and water for up to 6 months.
Filtered water not only tastes better than ordinary tap water it is also a lot safer to drink. In addition, a water filter is quite a bit cheaper than purchasing bottled water from the store. The filtration media for the Maytag UKF8001 Ice and Water Filter is certified for up to 750 gallons of water. That is the equivalent of six thousand 16oz water bottles!
If you have just installed your brand new UKF8001 filter you should now be receiving clear, great tasting water, but remember to flush the filter cartridge by running a gallon or two of water through the dispenser first. This will help to remove any loose carbon fines and primes the filter for use. You are now ready to enjoy fresh, safe, delicious drinking water and ice from your refrigerator!

Hey everyone! Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com.
Today, we're looking at the genuine Maytag UKF8001. They've shortened the part number from the old number, UKF8001-AXX, or you may simply know it as the PuriClean 2.
This is a typical refrigerator filter that is NSF Standard 42 and 53 Certified for a very long list of contaminants, and the usual suspects are on the list: chlorine, sediment, lindane, atrazine, lead, mercury, toxaphene, benzene, asbestos, cysts, microorganisms, all the nasties that you don't want in your drinking water. It's also certified for the unique laws and requirements of the State of California.
Now, the UKF8001 is typically found in Maytag, Jenn-Air, and Amana refrigerators on the right, in the back on top, where there is a pull-down flap and the filter inserts straight in. It's also found in Kenmore "596" Series refrigerators.
It has a filter life of approximately six months, and as we always say at FilterDoctor, “don't ever go longer than six months on a fridge filter change - it's just a bad idea.”
Again, this is the Maytag UKF8001 and I'm your host, Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com. Thanks for watching.
