GXRTQ GE SmartWater Inline Filter Kit

The GE SmartWater GXRTQ filter kit can be used on any brand of refrigerator with an icemaker and/or water dispenser.

Installing the GXRTQ in-line filter kit is a bit tricky, but it's still a do-it-yourself project for most people.

The kit includes everything you need to hook up the filter to your refrigerator, including all of the fittings and one filter.

Detailed instructions are included with the filter kit. If you're nervous about doing it yourself you could hire an appliance repair company or that guy down the street who is really handy, to do it for you.

Once the refrigerator filter kit is installed, changing the filter is easy. The fittings are a quick connect type fitting with a shutoff valve built in, so no tools are required to change the filter (just a bucket to catch drips & flush out the new filter) and you don't even need to shut off the water.

Tools required:

• Tube cutter (if you have copper tubing)
• Utility knife, or even a razor blade (if you have plastic tubing)
• 7/16 inch and 1/2 inch wrenches (no pliers or vice grips)
• Bucket
• Optional - file and sandpaper

You should only buy one of these kits per refrigerator. For replacement filters buy the GXRTQR.

The GXRTQ Filter System removes the following impurities from your drinking water:

• 93% of Chlorine
• Sediment
• Rust

The GXRTQ does not remove Fluoride

This filter system is tested and certified by NSF International to meet or exceed NSF/ANSI Standard 42

The GXRTQR filter cartridge should be replaced:

• Every 6 months or
• If the refrigerator has not been used for more than two weeks (for instance, during an extended vacation) or
• If you notice a decrease in the flow of water or objectionable tastes in the water or ice
