GE GXRLQ SmartWater Inline Filter System

The GE SmartWater GXRLQ filter kit can be used on any brand of refrigerator with an icemaker and/or water dispenser.

Installing the GXRLQ is simple... you definitely won't need a plumber:

1. Shut off the water supply to your refrigerator
2. Attach the manifold to the back of your refrigerator or a nearby wall
3. Cut the 1/4 inch plastic or copper water supply line
4. Plug the cut ends of supply line into the manifold
5. Screw in a replacement filter
6. Turn on the water, and you're done

Tools required:

• Tube cutter (if you have copper tubing)
• Utility knife, or even a razor blade (if you have plastic tubing)
• Phillips screwdriver
• Ruler or tape measure
• Pencil, pen, or marker

Installation tips:

• It's nice to have a bucket to catch the small amount of water that comes out of the tubing when you cut it.
• If you install the filter system behind your refrigerator, you'll need about 3 inches of clearance between the fridge and the wall.

Installation Photos:

Attach the manifold to the wall with the included screw, or to the back of the fridge with the included adhesive pad.

Get out your tubing cutter.

Use the tubing cutter to cut the plastic or copper tube where you'd like to install the filter. Note: A utility knife or razor blade usually produces a cleaner cut on plastic tubing. Just make sure you cut straight across the tube, and not at an angle. And always use a tubing cutter to cut copper tubing!

Check each end of the cut tube for nicks - which could cause a leak. If you see any damage within 3/4 inches from the end, just re-cut to remove it. Next, mark each tube 3/4 inches from the cut end.

Insert each end of the cut tube into the filter head up to the mark. Next, slide the white tube locking clips between the manifold and the white collet.

That's it for the manifold. Now it's time to install the filter cartridge.

Write the date on the filter, twist it into place, and you're done!

The GXRLQR filter cartridge should be replaced:

• Every 6 months or
• If the refrigerator has not been used for more than two weeks (for instance, during an extended vacation) or
• If you notice a decrease in the flow of water or objectionable tastes in the water or ice
