The Brita WPRF-100 removes the following impurities from your drinking water:

As with all built-in refrigerator water filters, the WPRF-100 does not remove Fluoride

The Brita WPRF-100 filter is tested and certified by the Water Quality Association (WQA) to meet or exceed NSF/ANSI Standard 42

Does the Brita WPRF-100 really only remove Chlorine and Particulates?

Since Brita didn't manufacture your refrigerator, they aren't allowed to make claims about all of the contaminants that the WPRF-100 will remove once installed in your fridge.

So, what exactly will the Brita WPRF-100 filter remove from my water?

While we can't say exactly which contaminants it removes, the WPRF-100 uses the same Brita Advanced Carbon Block technology used in Brita faucet filters.

A typical Brita Faucet filter removes the following:

The WPRF-100 Refrigerator Water Filter should be replaced every 6 months or when the "change filter" light comes on - whichever comes first.

Installing your new water filter:

  1. Twist the old filter a quarter-turn counterclockwise
  2. Pull the filter straight out (don't worry, the water will shut off automatically)
  3. Remove the reusable color-keyed knob from the end
  4. Discard the old filter
  5. Slide the knob onto the end of the new filter
  6. Push the new filter into the fridge until it stops
  7. Twist the filter a quarter-turn clockwise
  8. Run water through the dispenser for 3 minutes
  9. Reset your "change filter" light (if your fridge has one)

Resetting your "change filter" light:

  • Press the light switch (the one that the refrigerator door presses every time you close the door) 5 times within 10 seconds.
  • OR

  • If the fridge has a filter button, press and hold it for 5-10 seconds.

These filters are all interchangeable, so you can use any one in your fridge...

Gary Brown - FridgeFilters Customer Service Manager

"I need a black water filter, but the one on your web site is white… can I get the black one instead?"

The first time I got this question, I thought to myself… aren’t these base-grille water filters complicated enough? Now we have to start stocking them in black, white, gray, purple, green… where does it end?

Then it hit me… the knob! The customer was talking about the little plastic knob that slides onto the end of the filter. You know, the fancy color-matched knob that helps the ugly filter blend in with the rest of the refrigerator grille. They thought the knob was actually part of the filter, not realizing that all they had to do was slide it off the old filter, and onto the new one. Ahh… I wish they could all be that easy.
