The Clean 'n Clear water filter should be replaced every 6 months or when the "change filter" light comes on - whichever comes first.

Installing your new water filter:

Twist the old filter a quarter-turn counterclockwise
Pull the filter straight down and discard (don't worry, the water will shut off automatically)
Push the new filter up into the fridge until it stops
Twist the filter a quarter-turn clockwise
Reset your "change filter" light (if your fridge has one)

Resetting your "change filter" light:

Press and hold the dispenser lock and auto light buttons on the dispenser (at the same time) for 4 seconds until the filter status indicator begins to flash, then release the buttons.

"I changed my water filter, but my filter light is still red... what gives?"

On most fridges the water filter light is nothing more than a fancy �egg timer� set to go off after six months. That�s because the water filter is made from activated carbon which only absorbs contaminants for about 6 months - think of it as a charcoal sponge. Once the "sponge" is full, the filter just lets water & contaminants pass right through until it eventually clogs up with tiny particles of sand, sediment, and rust.
